Been doing some searching online for what would be my best bet for net service when I get my PC. (And I might call my cousin up to take me to get it since dad keeps finding ways to put it off ( Read more... )

I have no idea what/how about DSL. I can send you an invite for Gmail if you'd like tho. Lotsa space, very nice email accounts.

I have DSL, but my boss pays for it as part of his business account, so I don't know much other than of the three bandwidths available, I have the slowest one. (It's still a jillion times faster than dialup, though.)

If I understand the process correctly, your DSL provider is your internet service provider.

You are so lucky to have so many options for your DSL. In my area, you can get DSL from the phone company or cable modem from the cable company, and that's it.

For info on which one has the best features, service, etc, I'd recommend checking out CNet. They have lots of good reviews. Heck, you can check reviews for whichever computer model you are considering as well.

Good luck in the 'puter hunt! I know you're gonna LOVE the freedom it gives you over WebTV.

Actually I only have the 2 options too, cable or phone. It's just there are a couple different cable companies around here, as well as phone services, heeeee. I think I'm gonna go with the SBC DSL though. Now just need the PC so can order it, lol.
