but I'm installing WoW as we speak. I've tried playing MMORPG's before but I've always gotten bored with it. Anyone have any advice or anything for me?
It's been a few years since I played, but the newer races' starting zones are much better designed than the old ones. That would be Draenai on the Alliance side or Blood Elves on the Horde side.
Other than that, you'll have more fun if you're on a server with people you know. Ideally, your friends can get you into a good guild at low levels, since besides assistance with in-game stuff a guild gives you a channel of people more intelligent to speak with than the horrible public channels.
Angelus has a good point about making your first character a double-gatherer of some sort, although I might not recommend both herbs AND minerals since the location skills are exclusive. One of those and skinning, I'd say.
rogue's are good to start out with. i have a level 80 troll rogue and a level 50 belf warlock. warlocks are good as well. but just read the descriptions of the different classes and such and whatever you're drawn to pick.
maybe i'll create a low level and hop on there and visit you. i really only play my 80 rogue when i raid (ulduar yay!) a few times a week. and i'm a bit burnt out on the warlock because i've been leveling her like mad lately.
although i think part of him regrets getting me into wow, as he had the, "if she plays, then i can play as much as i want", thing went out the window as i'm in a guild with NO other raiding rogues and he's a mage and their are lots of mages. so, i've gotten geared better than he has and i play a lot more and HE has to drag me away from the computer at times.
