I've want an industrial for ages now. I think the first thing on my list though is to see about getting my nipples redone if possible. Feh, along with a new tattoo, it's like the list never ends with this sort of thing!

The "g" stands for gauge which is a wire diameter measurement. Most gunned piercings are done at 18g or 20g which is a fraction of a millimeter. Gauge sizes from 22/24ish down to 000g or 0000g have millimeter conversions. 16g is the size of a standard industrial bar which is 1.6mm. 8g is about 2.5mm and 0g is about 8.3mm. From about 6g I think you'll see inch conversions as well as meme and you can find the charts online easily. I prefer gauge or millimeter instead of inch because it has better precision (and I started stretching in England) but most Americans will use gauge and inch fractions. I don't know those conversions off the top of my head tho.

Also, the smaller the gauge number (ie 2g is 6.5mm) the larger the diameter but obviously inch and mm increase in size with number.

Actually gauge size does go up to 28 or 30 because I think insulin needles are that small.
