The Passionate Longing of Sonata
Chapter 4- Unexpected Turn of Events
The creaking sound produced by the solid ligneous barrier as it gradually opens causes YunHo to look in direction of the source of noise. He remains composed where as, JaeJoong was a little startled. When JaeJoong unlocked his bedroom door, YunHo was shutting his. Both men exchange smiles and in the end, JaeJoong pretends to search for something in his suitcase.
“Good morning. How was your sleep last night?”
“Mornin’. Yeah, good.”
JaeJoong answered plainly not bothered to look up while; YunHo faithfully locked his eyes at the smaller guy. He took a long deep breath and exhales slowly and silently. His lips gradually stretch and widen curving into a small smile upon seeing JaeJoong who continued ignoring him. YunHo walks towards the stairs as much as he dreads taking his eyes off the beautiful guy.
Right after YunHo left, JaeJoong sighs loudly. He is embarrassed about his over-friendliness attitude the other night. Ah, to hell with him. If I could act as though nothing happened yesterday night, I can definitely go through today with no worries. He tried consoling himself while making his way towards the dining table.
“Good morning abuji, Hyo-Lee.” JaeJoong greeted his father and stepmother, bowing his head in respect.
“Morning.” Both replied.
“What were you finding upstairs? Took you long enough to get down.” YunHo asked as he grabs the teapot on the table.
“Keys to the office drawers.” YunHo smiled for he knows the guy was not telling the truth.
“So Jae-hyung, coffee or tea?” JaeJoong did not bother to reply.
“Coffee or tea?” YunHo repeated himself, this time staring straight at JaeJoong.
JaeJoong who wanted to take a piece of toasted bread stopped midway. He challenges YunHo’s stares. Instead, YunHo held up the teapot and smiles. JaeJoong was dumbfounded. Sweat formed on his forehead and trickles down along his sideburn. His heart beats rapidly till he can feel the pounding sensation in his neck when he realizes they are being observed by his father whom by now had stopped reading his morning paper and YunHo’s mother.
“Coffee or tea?” YunHo asked for the third time as he cocked his eyebrow.
“Tea please. Thank You.” JaeJoong accepts the cup that was handed to him as he eats the bread. He gives himself a pat on the back for being able to control his emotions.
“Hyung dislikes coffee?”
“It’s not the matter of disliking it or not. It’s my stomach that couldn’t handle the caffeine in the early morning.”
“Oh, I see. On the other hand, it is tea I can’t take in the morning.”
“Glad to see we’re so different from each other.” JaeJoong answered coldly, rolling his eyes in the process.
“Opposites attract hyung. Ever heard of that?” YunHo counters back as he smirks.
“Sadly, no. Don’t wish to either.” JaeJoong is determined to not lose to YunHo. Not again.
“Well, that’s just too bad. You’re being stubborn.” YunHo would not back down that easily.
“I’m being stubborn?” The older male scoffs at that comment. “Here’s another idiom for you; pot calling the kettle black.”
Jin Ya peers from his newspaper as the feud continues. He clears his throat in order to get their attention but to no avail. “When are you two leaving for work?” He voiced out. Both YunHo and JaeJoong were shocked and stop their debate immediately.
“That’s right. Look at the time.” Hyo-Lee chimes in, extruding her lips to the kitchen clock.
“Abuji, why aren’t you dressed up? I thought I was carpooling with you to work. Is today a school holiday?” JaeJoong asked, confused.
“From today onwards, hyung won’t have to carpool with abuji anymore. Did I mention that I’m no longer working in Seoul? My new office has been transferred to Busan and is near to hyung’s office. We are using the same route which is why I’ll be driving you there from now on.” YunHo answered in Jin Ya’s place. JaeJoong looked at his stepbrother, wide-eyed. However, he composed himself and looks at his father for further explanation.
“That’s right JaeJoong. Today will be YunHo’d first day working at his new office.” Jin Ya answered. JaeJoong could only stare at his father, jaw-dropped. He has to admit that he had never bother finding out where YunHo works and he couldn’t care less even if YunHo had told him.

The Alpine White BMW X5 maneuver out of the garage and drives off slowly. JaeJoong had finally calmed down but he could still hear the beating of his heart as though it is forcing its way out of his chest. In contrast, YunHo shows no sign of nervousness. Both male are occupied with their own feelings.
“How is work? Is it okay?” YunHo breaks the silence between them.
He had wanted to ask yesterday night but, he had forgotten about it as both JaeJoong and him concentrated on relating their experiences of studying abroad. JaeJoong turns, taking his eyes off the buildings upon hearing the question. He was met with an image of YunHo driving coolly, eyes concentrating on the road ahead. JaeJoong could not bother answering the other lad and continues to look out the window. Why is he so calm and collected? JaeJoong wanted so much to strangle YunHo.
“I was asking, how is work JaeJoong ah?” JaeJoong closes his eyes, frustration evident on his face. Gosh, this guy can be SO annoying at times.
“Look, I’m not in the mood to play 20 questions!” He barked to a much amused YunHo. At that moment, JaeJoong glances over, this time locking his eyes with YunHo’s. YunHo quickly divert his gaze to his driving while, JaeJoong is back to seeing the buildings outside. JaeJoong continues his brooding, disliking the sight of a smiling YunHo.
“You don’t have to get angry if you don’t want to answer. I was just asking, nothing wrong with that right?” JaeJoong sneers at YunHo’s reply.
“Are you angry at me?” YunHo asks again.
DUH~ I feel like bashing you till you turned into a pulp! His inner voice shouted. Yes. JaeJoong wanted so much to vent his anger. His heart is filled with resentment and he was shocked upon the news of carpooling with his stepbrother. His father’s action of not discussing the matter with him is really upsetting. Now, his displeasure has reached its peak and it’s written all over his beautiful features.
“Are you feeling warm? Should I lower the temperature of the air conditioner?” The other guy remains tight lip. YunHo proceeds in twisting the knob. He knew very well that JaeJoong would sweat when he’s furious. The question earlier is just an excuse for him to peek at JaeJoong even if it was for a moment.
What is wrong with me? I’m acting like a child. He whispered to himself when he felt he was teased. He was embarrassed as he tries to control his emotions.
“Why are you being all moody? You were smiling and laughing during breakfast. Now, you are even worst than an aggravated pregnant woman.” YunHo asked, followed by a forced laughter.
“Talking to you is a waste of time.” JaeJoong felt defeated once more hearing YunHo’s roar. He refuses to lose like last time.
Out of a sudden, YunHo did an emergency break. JaeJoong was thrown forward however; the seatbelt prevented him from hitting the windshield. Instead, he was hurled backwards again. He winced and his face contorted in pain due to the hard impact.
“Jae! Are you alright?” YunHo’s hand immediately grab JaeJoong’s arm. JaeJoong nods his head and stares ahead figuring what had happened. YunHo releases his hold and look ahead.
“It’s lucky we did not bang into the car in front. The car at the back managed to stop in time too.” YunHo explains. JaeJoong looks ahead with a worried expression.
“Could it be that an accident had happened? I wonder if it’s bad.” JaeJoong pops the question.
“Let’s just hope that no lives are in danger. I think you should call the office and tell them you’ll be arriving late.” YunHo hands over his cell phone. JaeJoong pulls his cell out and wiggles it in front of YunHo’s face, shaking his head as he dials the number.
“What? Involuntary reaction.” YunHo scowls as he keeps his cell. They then continue the journey slowly.

“When should I pick you up?”
“It’s okay. You don’t have to wait. I’ll be going home on my own.” JaeJoong answered while making his way out of the car. YunHo crinkles his forehead.
“Jae.” He calls out softly. JaeJoong sighs upon hearing his name but, he decides to ignore it. Instead, he quickens his pace.
“Jae!” This time, YunHo shouts which causes JaeJoong to stop in his tracks. The tone of YunHo’s voice is different. JaeJoong looks at his surrounding and he felt embarrassed as a few bystanders are watching. He made his way back to the car.
“What is it? I’m running late!” He hissed.
“You dropped this.” The younger lad answered, holding a mischievous grin. He then held up JaeJoong’s cell phone. JaeJoong opens the door and reaches for his cell phone a little too hastily. He accidentally smacks YunHo’s hand away and the cell phone landed somewhere in the backseat.
“Look what you’ve done! I’m going to be so late.” JaeJoong cried.
“ME? You’re the one rushing to get the phone!” YunHo shouted back.
“So, I’m in the wrong for wanting to get my phone back?” JaeJoong yelled again.
“Look, the sooner we stop this argument the faster we can look for your phone. Deal?” YunHo asked. I’ll let you win this time.
JaeJoong nods his head and begin searching for his phone. “Why must you have such a huge car?” he whines.
YunHo chuckles at JaeJoong’s behavior. “Why don’t you trying searching the passenger seat?”
JaeJoong did as he was told and look under the seat. Nothing underneath it however, he saw his black phone lying right behind YunHo’s driver seat. He quickly climb up the passenger seat and stretches out his hand in attempt to reach for his phone.
“It’s there, behind your seat.” JaeJoong voiced out.
“Where?” YunHo asked.
“There!” JaeJoong pointed in direction of the cell phone. YunHo look to where it was directed. Unfortunately, JaeJoong lost his balance.
“Argghhhh!!!!” He screams. At the exact moment, the startled YunHo turn around to find JaeJoong falling on top of him. He could feel something soft and moist against his lips. He opens his eyes to find JaeJoong’s face leaning against his. JaeJoong slowly opens his eyelids and imagined the shock he had, to find himself on top of YunHo, kissing him! He shoves the other hard and wipes his lips furiously with the palm of his hand before getting down the car.
“You…You… You jerk! Sick pervert! Thief!” He shouted, his face redden. Angry and embarrassed at the same time. He then opens the back door and grabs his phone. He closes the door with a slam and leaves, not forgetting to glare at YunHo.
Oooh, life is so sweet~ YunHo smirks, recalling those soft plump lips.
