((Following
this scene, on the same day...))
Matt: *Walking into the prison's cafeteria just in time to line up for dinner, Matt glanced around at the tables that were already filling up before looking over his shoulder to the man following him. Giving Wellington a small smile, he wondered just how well this small 'test' of his would really work. Having thought about just what he could do to get the truth out of the other man, Matt realized just how little he actually knew about him. He was arrogant, annoying, and hated greasy food. After attempting to insult Wellington with no real effect, he decided to try something a little different.* You feeling hungry, dude? Dinner smells great. Don't you agree?
Wellington: *Follows Matt closely, his hair combed much more loosely than normal and lacking the heavy gel it usually holds. He's lacking his usual blue jacket and scarf, and instead is just wearing the familiar black dress shirt. He nods eagerly.* Yeah, I must not have eaten for days or something, I'm starving. We're going to get some food, right Matt?
Matt: Of course, Welly dude. *He points over to the short line of inmates waiting for their food.* It is dinner time after all. We always have dinner about this time everyday. *Still smiling, he walks up to the line, waiting for Wellington to follow.*
Wellington: Ah, wait... *catches up quickly and lightly grabs Matt's elbow, then looks behind him* ...I don't want to loose sight of you, this place is really big, and... *frowns* ...my vision still hasn't cleared up yet. Everything looks really blurry unless it's close to me.
Matt: *Pauses at the touch on his arm, looking over his shoulder again. His smile fades. but he doubts the other man can see it.* Oh, uh, don't worry, dude. I'm sure that will clear up eventually. And I won't let you get lost.
Wellington: *smiles* Thanks, Matt. I'm glad you're helping me figure things out. *waits to see what Matt and other inmates do in the cafeteria line, and copies them, taking a tray and plate and sliding them along the counter towards the servers*
Matt: *Forcing a smile, he glances around the cafeteria again spotting a few of the more familiar faces from his hall. His eyes dart to Redd, sitting relaxed among a few other unknown inmates, chatting comfortably.* I should probably tell you about the inmates in our hall. *Points to Redd.* You see him? The shiny dude in pink?
Wellington: *squints* ...Not... really...... oh wait, I see some pink. What about him?
Matt: He is an absolute asshole and you want to keep as far away from him as possible. He hates people who are better than him, namely us, and will try to throw around what little power he has to make us miserable. He can't, but I hate letting him waste my time anyway.
Wellington: *widens his eyes and nods* That sounds awful. I think. *looks to Matt* Okay. I'll try to keep away from... the pink guy.
Matt: Good. Now, *Points to Tigre, who is sitting alone, eating by himself.* See him? The orange dude?
Wellington: *nods quickly* Yeah, I see a lot of orange.
Matt: It would probably be best to stay away from him too. He can get pretty damn violent. He is across from your cell, but keep your mouth shut and you should be fine. He doesn't have anything against you that I know of.
Wellington: Okay. Should I keep my mouth shut right now?
Matt: Uh? *Turns to him.* What? Oh no no. You can talk now with me, dude. It's cool.
Wellington: Okay. Not to the orange dude, then. I can do that.
Matt: Good. Ready to learn some more or is that too much for one day? I've already shown you all around the prison.
Wellington: Oh, I'm feeling pretty good. Well, besides that I'm kinda hungry... and I'm having trouble seeing... *rubs his eyes, then continues pushing his tray along the line* ...Can you tell me more about myself?
Matt: Oh...Yourself? Sure... Anything in particular, dude?
Wellington: Er... *tilts head* ...You gave me my name, I guess that was pretty important. I'm not sure what else to ask, though.
Matt: Well, ...*Looks around.* We are totally good friends so I know everything there is to know about you. First off, you love to eat anything that is fried or doused in gravy.
Wellington: Alright! That's good, I was worried because wasn't sure what I should be eating.
Matt: ...*Grins.* Yeah, just keep that up and no one will be able to tell the difference anyway. Also, because I am one of the top dogs here and you are like my one of my friends, you usually like to talk down to some people around here.
Wellington: Really? That's great, I'm glad I'm with you. ...I'm not sure how to... talk down on someone though. Do you think you could show me how I do that? *comes to the server and lets them pile fried chicken and mashed potatoes onto his plate*
Matt: *Slides his tray forward, avoiding the fried chicken and just going for the potatos.* Sure, I think I can manage. *After the server plops a pile on his plate, he places a hand on his hip and gives Wellington an arrogant smirk in his best impression.* That's the look you usually give. Wanna try?
Wellington: *looks carefully, then puts one hand on his hip, checking to make sure it's in the correct position, then puts on a smirk, though the smirk is more amused than arrogant* Is this right?
Matt: *Takes ahold of his tray again, his smirk fading to a smile.* Well...It's a good start. Now you have to get the talk down. Try insulting me, dude, and don't drop the pose.
Wellington: Ah... *frowns, but stiffly holds his posture* What should I say?
Matt: Call me unsophisticated or something.
Wellington: Alright. *takes a deep breath* ...You're unsophisticated! And you're something!
Matt: ...Hmm. Maybe we should give this a try on someone else... *Glances around the room again.*
Wellington: Aren't we going to eat first? *looks down at his tray, tilting it slightly as he eyes the contents*
Matt: *Looks down at his own tray and shrugs.* Yeah, might as well before it gets colder. Follow me. *Grabs a carton of milk and walks swiftly towards an empty table.*
Wellington: *Also grabs a carton and follows him, taking an empty chair across from Matt after he sits down. He looks around at the nearby inmates also eating for a moment, then picks up a piece of fried chicken with his fingers and takes a bite.* ....Mmm! I like this! *continues eating, obviously very pleased*
Matt: *Smirks to himself, chuckling softly. Wellington would never eat fried chicken. He would never go that far, even to prevent himself from getting a beating.* See! I told you, dude! Matt always keeps an eye out for you.
Wellington: *continues eating his food until he's eaten everything on his tray, then gulps down the 2% milk* ....Ah, you were right. That was really good.
Matt: *Sets his plastic spork down, not having finished all of his food but feeling full for now. He keeps grinning.* How are you feeling? How is your vision, dude?
Wellington: Stuffed! I don't think I could eat another bite. .....*glances around the cafeteria* ....I don't think I can see any better, though. How long do you think it'll take for it to get better?
Matt: Hm. You got hit pretty hard. Maybe a few days or so?
Wellington: A few days? *frowns* It's pretty hard getting around like this. I hope it clears up sooner than that...
Matt: Me too, man. That must really suck, not being able to see correctly. *Shoves his tray to the side.* So any other questions for me?
Wellington: Well... I keep trying to remember what it is I'm supposed to be doing, but... it's like I just can't think of it. So, I'm not even sure what I should ask...
Matt: Well, if you think of any questions, I'm here, dude. Now... *Sets one hand on top of the other, leaning onto the table to look at Wellington. His expression speaks only business.* Let me tell you a few things about your prison life.
Wellington: *nods with interest* Okay, I'm listening.
Matt: The truth is, dude, I haven't been entirely honest about your relationship with me.
Wellington: What do you mean? ...We're not good friends?
Matt: No no. We are friends, but there is a bit more to it then that. You *points to him* look up to me. You've told me on many occasions that I am your idol and because of it, you usually follow me around nearly everywhere I go. You are always more than eager to do favors for me too, usually doing things without me even having to ask!
Wellington: *tilts his head slightly* My idol? Okay. Why are you my idol?
Matt: Well, obviously because I am not only the dude running this place but also cause I am just so cool and the ladies love me.
Wellington: You run this place? *looks in amazement at Matt* Wow, is that hard?
Matt: Not at all. I mean, for anyone else it totally would be, but it is really easy for me. Especially since I have you to help me out.
Wellington: Ohh... I had no idea. ...I'm sorry I don't remember how to help you, though.
Matt: *Leans back in his spot on the bench.* Don't worry, Welly. I will teach you everything you need to know. Just listen to everything I say and things will go perfectly. *Stops himself from saying 'for me at least' as he grins wider in Wellington's direction.*
Wellington: *gives a small smile in return* I'll do my best, then. You can count on me! I'll try hard to remember!
Matt: Good. *Stands up swiftly, turning from the table.* Come on. Let's get out of here and we can chat some more, dude. This talk needs to happen in a more private place.
Wellington: Whatever you say, Matt. *smiles politely and gets up to follow him out of the cafeteria*
