Well, this year I wore pyjamas ALL DAY.

But normally I would wear something smart-ish, though not specifically Christmassy. My mother will sometimes wear earrings a bit like your step-mothers, though not always. We do not do Christmas sweaters. ;)

:-)

But what were the pyjamas like? And were the accessorised with a nice cashmere blanket?

PS Did you read / dip into books from my shelves in the end? If so, which ones?

We tend to dress up for Christmas day, within the realms of still being reasonably comfortable. I wore the dress I've worn for the past two years, a knitted Diane von Furstenberg, which I was lucky enough to find in Bicester Village outlet centre. It has a magenta/turquoise/yellow pattern on a black ground that really suits me but photographs badly!

My in-laws don't seem to go in for dressing up on Christmas day but having packed a sparkly skirt I wore it anyway - black long sleeved top, black, white, grey and silver skirt which a spirally floral pattern on it, black tights and suitably festive looking red and white knitted slipper boots with furry white lining (my FIL was most amused by the slippers).
