An acquaintance of mine is converting his Mazda Protege into an electric car . He recently posted his disappointment concerning his company's refusal to permit him to plug-in his vehicle to recharge while he's at work. I think its hard to not be cynical in todays world.

I work at a busy Timmys in downtown Halifax...I see things that shake my faith in people everyday, rude for no reason..customers yelling at our staff because their coffee was wrong somehow, drug needles left all over our public washrooms..etc.

Then I see things that restore my faith. People buying an extra coffee for the bum on the corner, or taking them in and buying them a meal. The tricked out, "gangsta'd" up freak, letting the little old lady go ahead of him, and then carrying her tray across the wet floor for her. More often than not..when I leave the store, someone will hold the door for me.

Sometimes its hard to find it...but its there :)

I could understand the company's POV if the employee has other means of getting to work (train? bus?). It just seems to me that companies who profess to being "green" are more or less saying "we are green so long as we keep making the green". I don't know where your acquaintance lives but if it's in this province, his company is being really cheap. The cost to recharge a car battery would be like...what? $2.00 per charge?
