My parents don't have much faith in me

I called my parents today, and since Mom wasn't awake yet (3rd Shift) I talked to dad for a bit. I told him I was going to NYC this weekend and the first thing he said was, "You're liable to get mugged there."

After my mom woke up and talked to me, I told her I was going to New York and the first thing she said was, "Don't get mugged

Yeah, that's what I told them.

Perhaps that's the reason I don't remember them ever going out of state unless it's to Myrtle Beach (when I was little).

Yea, I think its a small town-southern thing to assume that you'll get killed if you go to the big city. My mom thought I was going to get shot in Harlem.

Oh lord, I'd hate to think about what my parents would say if I told them I'd even GO to Harlem.

I think I'll wait until after I come back to drop that on them, if at all.

My parents are some of the most racist people I know too. Sheesh.

I was in NYC in November and no one touched me...though I was in town with 8 Texans all wearing Cowboy hats.

And I'm looking forward to running into you at camp this coming weekend, that is if you actually need to show up at a staff training. On the other hand, maybe they'd expect you to train the staff. I dunno. Anyways, I'm looking forward to being back at camp.
