Ah! I don't know if it's important, or relavent for that matter D:, but on Cole2K site it says:

DivX 6.1.1 Pro is featured in this pack which starts with a trial period of 180 days, even if you have previously had DivX 5.x registered or your PC you will need to enter a new key with this version.

I'm not sure if that implies that we'd get yucky stuff after the 180 days expire ("You will NOT be shown any adverts or have any spyware installed on your PC during the DivX 6.1.1 Pro trial period.") -- so I figured that instead of "Easy Installation," do the "Expert/Advanced Installation" and uncheck the "DivX 6.1.1 Pro Trial" period... installation... portion D:

Everything still works, but you can avoid the whole REGISTER TODAY ZOMG stuffies that it may/may not come with.

*does not make sense*
*shutsup and runs away*

no problem ^^

and that's talking about the actual encoder. you won't need to register to use the codec to view files, that's only for actually encoding things. you can actually do the standard pack, as far as i know it has everything necessary to play the files, but i use the advanced one. i use my laptop to encode on, not just watch so i have to have everything on it. ^^;

Does the Standard Codec Pack from Cole2K work for playing the files?

Hi, I've installed Cole2k. But I still can't play the files (beam of light). Only the first part can be played on VLC. but the rest cannot be played. Why is that so? Aren't all the files in the same format?
The files cannot be played on windows media player either.
Please help!
Thanks!

you have to download and then join the files together first, read the first section about split files for how. (:
