Made the quick drive up to Edmonton on Friday to see Combichrist and Rammstein. With external beta on my new project opening up today it was good timing for a last minute escape ( Read more... )

I really wanted to go to Rammstein when they were in Seattle yesterday but I just couldn't make it work. I heard the Combrichrist part of the Seattle show was pretty crappy too.

Aw that sucks; I highly recommend seeing them if you get the chance in future.

It's really too bad about Combichrist; they're a great band and normally a very good live show.

I saw them the last time they came through Portland but that was about 10 years ago.

Ah ok, excellent. I had never seen them before; I don't even think they've toured Western Canada before.

Heh, it's funny, Combichrist playing was a definite factor in my sentiment of "I'm not paying $80 for that." (I play them at the club because it's kind of obligatory, but I'm really not a fan.) If their set was not-so-good anyway, I feel even better about that decision. :)

Too bad about missing the fire-goodness, but oh well. Thanks for posting the videos. Z tried to send me some but I couldn't get it to play.

I like Combichrist. I don't pretend they're terribly groundbreaking or anything, but I enjoy their music. Rammstein was awesome and well worth it on their own. Oh and tickets were $30... in the section we were in, anyways.

Most of the people I knew who were going were sitting together somewhere that was in the $80 range. I'm not sure if it's a case where one person bought the tickets early on and then set out to profit slightly though. Either way, I don't like either band quite enough to sit by myself, and floor is not an attractive option at my height.

Either way, even if it was $30 I'm not sure I would have gone. I didn't like Rammstein's last few albums very much, plus I'm not big on making road trips when I'm trying to keep steady progress on my thesis. I actually missed seeing Kraftwerk when I was writing my MA, under similar circumstances.

Yeah I think ours were cheap because by the time we were done humming and hawing about whether or not we could go, the good seats were sold out :D That's ok, because

Oh yes. Much better to be a little further away and not trying to peer between people's shoulders :/
