Personally, I've never identified with calling someone "my Sir". I never understood it. I have understood calling someone Sir directly, but never indirectly.

I call Master...Master, to those who know who he is to me. And to the rest...Andrew. I NEVER call Him anything but Master on the phone, even at work, I whisper it and he knows what I am saying. He always calls me pet, puppy, slave, slut or suki... when He calls me sarah, i know that he is trying to really get me to stop, and to think about what he's saying, the same when I actually call Him Andrew. It makes both of us stop in our tracks...and rethink what the other said.
:)

but i can see the difficulty.

I have to admit, one reason I liked the name "Cowboy" for my man is that it's okay to use it anywhere.

I wish it could be that easy. He also uses "Lochai" as his professional name with his photography. That only makes it even more complicated.

Well you can only begin to imagine what we go through,

For example: Every one at his work only knows me by his pet name (Muñequita-little doll which is used in vanilla and D/s situations since I don't consider myself a slave and only a sub to him-I am Dominant to everyone else) in fact he calls me that or MOM with my boys. He calls me only little one when we age play.

In the scene and in some vanilla places that I know spanish is not used I refer to him as AMO which is master in spanish.

Rarely do I call him Jim and Sir is only used in private playtime.

In fact I've had folk question me in my own journal thinking I was cheating or poly with Jim not knowing that Jim is (Daddy, Amo, babycakes, Sir)

In fact you have inspired a post on the meaning for each name in respect to each other.

I was thinking about the same kind of thing. :)

(And I understand most of the spanish. No need to translate unless you want to. I've been in South Florida for too long. :oP)

Heh, see I have the problem that my Sir, my Master and my Daddy are all actually three different people! *giggles* So I get to confuse people even more :P

I do know about having to deal with multiple names though... when standing in front of his ex's kids its NOT a good time to say hey Master!!! Thats gotten choked back several times, lol. OOPS!

So far, we keep the D/s names in the bedroom, though I amuse Master by occasionally calling him that on AIM, or when I think he's being bossy. =) We still have about 80% vanilla interactions... but we're getting there!
