reminds me of the weeks right after Katie was born. I posted a message that felt like a "message in a bottle" from the land of new parents.

It was basically "This shit is really, really mindblowingly HARD, and you don't want to be in this game unless you REALLY desperately wanted it. If you are on the fence, or a "maybe" NEVER get talked into this shit."

I love being a parent, but more than ever do I think we should BACK THE HELL OFF people who are lukewarm.

See, that's a realistic attitude. The news is filled with people who became parents cause they thought it would be easy or a shortcut to happiness or some crap like that. Too few people talk about how parenting really is difficult and requires dedication.

Wanda Sykes has a routine about how parents that push others to have kids never look people in the eye cause they know they're doing something wrong and just trying to justify their own role as parents.

Well, our little dears are our greatest joy, but people need to remember there is some fresh hell daily. Or they just aren't introspective enough ( ... )

Completely agree with this! I think there is a lot of pressure to want to be in a relationship too, especially for women. I have tried to explain to various family members that I don't think I'll ever want to get married, and I get the same "you'll feel differently when you're older" crap.
