the only condolence i can offer is that those scraps and papers are not you. they reflect only past versions of yourself, any truths discovered in those times probably no longer apply. and perhaps you will agree that the understanding of a thing is more important than the actual thing. the why of derek is more important than the how he became as he is. keep to the present and the future and you might not feel the loss at all.

say yo to aggie for me.

when I get freaked out, I take a nap. I read this the other day and was out for at least two hours... "And as for human characters, whether real or inventd, there are no such animals. Each psyche is really an ant-hill of oppposing predispositions. Personality as something with fixed attributed is an illusion-but a necessary illusion if we are to love!"
I want almost hysterically for this not to be the true, and thinking of it, you're one of the best pieces of evidence I have against it. As far as I can tell, you haven't changed as much as all that. for two years, as you said, we've probably seen each other a dozen times, and really hung out maybe four. If you'd lost so much of yourself, I if anyone would know, not having been around for the gradual process. And it doesn't seem to me that you have.
