Water bugs, microscopes and so on

My little coldwater aquarium of locally-collected critters is burbling along quite nicely. The gudgeon is noticeably bigger than it was when I collected it a week or two ago, and the glass shrimp are doing just fine. A second collecting trip earlier this week produced more glass shrimp and daphnia (the latter of which the gudgeon eats with ( Read more... )

I has a Second Life question! I'm getting interested in SL again, but I don't want to use the account I have, because I let somebody know about it who I'm not terribly keen on interacting with, so I made up a new one. Aaaanyway, the question is, can I transfer Linden-money from my old account to my new one? And if so, how?

I haven't re-installed SL on my computer since the great virus reformatting earlier this year, but I'll probably be doing that in the next couple of days, and I'll let you know what my SL handle is when I do so. :)

FYI, in SL there's a function called Mute where if you mute someone you don't receive any messages or chat from them. You become basically deaf to them. So if you take this person off your friendslist (if they're on it) and mute them, then they may as well not exist for all you will know thereafter. It's an alternate way of dealing with the "I don't want to interact with X" problem that is a fair bit simpler than creating a whole new account.

But to answer your question, yes you can transfer money to whoever you like, but you need to log into SL as your old account to do so, if that's the account with the money in. Once you've done so, find the profile of the person you want to transfer the funds to, and you should find a "pay" option there on the profile. Easy-peasy!

Would you want to get one from the US, or is shipping prohibitive... or prohibited? *hugs on ya*

Getting one from the US wouldn't be my first choice, for two reasons. Firstly, there is, as you say, the shipping. A good microscope is heavy, and I could expect to have to shell out an extra US$60-100 to ship it, which is a significant amount. Secondly, a US microscope would have be set up to use US voltage, which is what, 110V? and would have a US plug on. So I'd have to not only change the plug over, but change over the power supply to one that can deal with 240V power that we use here. This is not trivial. All that being said, if I came across a microscope from the US that was just what I want and cheap enough that it was worthwhile to get even factoring in those additional expenses, I'd be interested.

Oh, right. I hadn't thought about that, good microscopes = plug in electirc. *snugs ya bunches* I'm glad you like the beads. I got them from a little shop I happened on by chance one day.

Oh, and by the way, a certain packet of beads turned up in the mail last week. They're lovely! Thank you so much! *big hug*
