As a programmer I can honestly say that what you have actually discovered is actually an undocumented feature rather than a bug. I personally blame the technical writer types, who can't be bothered with completing the user documentation correctly, viz:
Precognative Interview Removal: If you suspect that the upcoming interview will seriously skew your data away from your predicted results you can give the interviewee an arbitrarily high subject ID and the interview will be automatically discarded without adversely influencing your results.
