Ditto with f_l_i_r_t ! I even think I did a paper on it in junior high english class. I think that would be kind of fun to actually reread it again now so many years later. I'm sure I would puke at my writing then, although maybe I would see more of me in that then than I would think now. Anyway, for me it is has always just been an admonition that when faced with choices, that often the less popular one can make more of a difference in our own future than simply staying with the crowd and following the herd. And that often when we make choices, we can't go back and undo them to try the other one to see if it was "better" or not.
And finally, it also reminds me of one of my favorite Berra-isms in which he might have been trying to paraphrase this poem,
rethinking junior highsubswitchNovember 21 2003, 08:51:04 UTC
Ya know I'm starting to rethink the "junior high days". typically we thought we knew everything when we were in jr high and then by the time we reached twelfth grade we came to grips with the concept that we didn't know shit. Then we start to look back at our junior high days as days of particular arrogance and ignorance which of course they are, however, within that arrogance and ignorance we had bold visions and made great leaps of faith that if we could look back at them now, for all of their unsophistication and naivete, I thik we would probably be surprised at some of the wisdom lurking within.
