Thanks! I _was_ purring.. Whenever I get this excited, I end up sleeping funny. I turn all Ninja-warrior in my sleep. Last night, I kept tossing and turning and rotating all around the bed. I woke up feeling light-headed. :)
That is quite a vivid description, reminds me of the little joys in life we miss most of the time in our times of corporate and not so corporate forages! :)
heyyyy nice post! the birdwatching session sounds awesome! takes a while to get used to binos, no? next time, take a camera with a good zoom on it, that way not only can you get to see the bird better, you can remember the names for longer!
also, congrats on the violin recital. am impressed! you've been wanting to learn it for so long and you did!
My attempts with the binoculars were just ridiculous... The guy would say, 'look behind the first fence post and before the second one, do you see the plover?' and I would go 'where? where?'. He gave up on me. I was so bad at focusing initially. And then I would focus on some bird after a lot of effort and it would usually turn out to be a grackle (common bird here) or a rock pigeon or a dove. At one point I got so excited when I saw these two huge white birds and I jumped up very excitedly saying, 'Oh look, what are those?' and this guy behind me goes, 'Those, my dear, are wooden birds'. Everybody on the bus laughed. I shut up for a while after that :P.
>>Violin: Thanks! I need to practice more but I'm thoroughly enjoying the lessons. My teacher is fun and she keeps encouraging me to try different things.
As I revisit your post and read all the comments (and your responses) I realize it's the comments that bring the entire experience out. My ex-wife's an avid bird watcher too (yeah I was married once) and I remember her excitement at her birdwatching trips.
