Nah. MICARD DESFire is a lot more secure than Classic or Ultralight.
DESfire is the higher cost standards based crypto (Triple DES) option. If it's DESfire8 it even supports AES. Looking at the Wikipedia article for MIFARE, they've just announced a lightweight AES option, presumably prompted by all the negative press.
Yeah, I was naively reading about the other hacks and assuming that Australian agencies with the benefit of things like DSD guidelines wouldn't even think about implementing broken home brew crypto.
