"Lupin a word a moment, if you please," Severus said, calling after the werewolf as he was leaving the Great Hall after lunch.
He had been doing this more often of late, of course, even prior to his rather astonishing
experimentation with the Weasley Twin's potion. After giving himself time to recover from that disturbing revelation, he had decided it was time for action.
Severus Snape was, for lack of a better word, courting Lupin, though Remus seemed to be still quite oblivious to the assiduousness of his attentions.
(There was the name again!)
It was time for somewhat drastic measures. He had spent the better part of the last few days actively scheming, and had alighted on a solution which seemed fail-proof.
Once he had caught the other man up, he stepped slightly to the side, into one of the numerous blind-end-alcoves Hogwarts corridors always provided, most conveniently.
"I wished to discuss the upcoming Quidditch Match. Minerva and I always had some sort of amicable 'bet' based upon the outcome of the match and it is a tradition I should very much like to continue."
It was equally convenient that the alcoves were usually rather small, which meant that Severus was 'forced' to stand slightly closer to Lupin than either man might normally have found comfortable.
Was it any wonder Severus really enjoyed living in this drafty old castle?
