Character Application
Name: Kino
Series: Kino No Tabi (Kino’s Journey)
Age: I would estimate around 16-17
Gender: Female (Although she is commonly mistaken for male.)
Canon:
WikipediaPulled In: Post-series, after episode “The Kind Country”
Cut Down:
Seeing as how Kino is very normal as far as supernatural powers go, I don’t imagine much would be cut down. Her abilities lie in her quick reflexes and fast thinking. She’s a sharpshooter at best, nothing abnormal about that.
Personality:
Kino is a very quiet girl at times. Highly non-confrontational, excluding certain circumstances, she prefers to keep her nose out of other’s business. She isn’t vain and prefers to live simple, moving along with just the basic needs, usually. When she wants to be, Kino can be very stubborn and always intent to see things through if they pique her interest. She has a fear of settling down if she were to stay anywhere for too long, thus her ‘three days only’ rule while she travels.
Compartment: Platform 3, Train 3, Compartment 4
Sample Journal Post:
[The communicator turns on, whispers from one source can be heard over the fumbling of the buttons on the device. Finally, a proper sentence is made, the voice high pitched, like one of a child’s.]
Kino, are you sure you know how to work that thing? You might break it and then we’ll have nothing to help us get outta here…!
[A sigh.] I know what I’m doing, there’s no need to worry, Hermes…-
But you saw what was out there! You heard those sounds-! [Kino interrupts him.] We’ll be fine.
[Finally, the fumbling stops and she clears her throat.] I think I have this down now…[Voice post is turned off, switching to journal post.]
I apologize for that. My name is Kino, with me is my partner, Hermes. We seem to have stumbled upon the town by mistake. If possible, would anyone be so keen as to help us?
My sincerest thanks and gratitude goes out to anyone willing enough to help us.
Sample RP Post:
It had been the start of a wonderful day, with blue skies and a small breeze; an ideal day for traveling. Kino had woken that morning with the intent to open the small bag of candy she had been given as a reward the day before when she had left the small town to continue on her journey. While on her way out, Hermes in tow, she had caught sight of an old man unloading large crates from a wagon. Without much thought on how long it would take to find decent shelter when night fell, Kino walked over and asked him f he needed any help. The man had kindly asked her for a bit of assistance and smiled.
After helping, the man gave her a small bag of candy, telling her that they were quite the rage around here. She thanked him and went on her way.
Now…
“What are they? Kino?” The motorrad questioned again, horribly curious. Kino picked one up, turning it over before her, as if that could unveil its true identity.
“…I think it’s a chocolate baby.” Hermes made a noise.
“Are you sure it’s chocolate? It could be-“ Kino took a bite before he could finish that sentence.
“Yeah, it’s chocolate. That’s so odd though. Who would make chocolate babies?” She pondered out loud, picking up another after having finished off the first. It had been so long since she indulged herself in candy. It wasn’t that she forbade herself from doing it, but that it cost more money than necessary and thus never held much desire towards it.
Kino smiled when she heard Hermes heave a long dramatic sigh. “You’ll get fat, you know.” She tapped a finger to her lips, hearing the jest in his words. “Oh I wouldn’t worry. Why do you care? I never struck you as the vain type, Hermes.”
“I’m not, but you have to put into consideration who’s carrying you all the time, Kino!” Kino laughed at that, tying the bag up and putting it away. Hopefully they wouldn’t melt…
“Alright, alright. Let’s go, we have a long day ahead of us.”
“Yeah, and I’ll be the one feeling those two extra pounds you just put on.”
“Hermes!”
