Supernatural 4.07: \o/ with minor *headdesk*
SAM RAIMI-ESQUE MOUTH CAM! YAY! Actually, there was a lot of camera-angle play in this ep. I liked it a lot. That first shot of Castiel in the foreground of the boys hotel room was creepy and nice.
During that research scene, Sam's drinking coffee, Dean's drinkin' beer, and there is pizza. All of that is as it should be. I approve.
Oh Dean, you and I eat candy the same way - all at once till we get sick! *warm, fuzzy, glow*
Dean needs a shave. Not a good look for him, especially with the outfit, says me.
This season is also all about alias names, isn’t it? I would like to see some less obvious ones. I mean, we all know the drill, so if we hear a name we’re not immediately familiar with (Detective Tom Scholz, Agent Delp) that’s ok. …Alright, maybe it’s not, but I’d appreciate it.
Sam meeting Castiel was the cutest thing ever! And when Castiel actually took his hand, I did this: \o/
Uriel is a jerk with clunky line delivery.
Also - Dean coming out with the "ignoring a crap order" line? That was another unnecessary sledgehammer blow.
"Are you prepared to disobey?" Oooh that line, monotone delivery and all, was pretty good.
Wow. Our boys just hauled off and shot Don. No hesitation, no “put down the goblet, Don!” I’m guessing that has some kinda meaning in the grand scheme, yes?
Weak writing point #1: GAH. Why didn't Sam lead with the knife against possessed!Don? He had the perfect surprise with the whole ray-gun-doesn't-work-on-me thing. Sam could have started running at the guy as soon as the light started getting brighter and knifed him before it faded. And how much more bad ass would possessed!Don have been if he'd parried that thrust??
Weak writing point #2: Dean, when he ran in and saw Sam brain-exorcising Samhain - just watched! Even though the knife was right there between him and Don! I just don’t buy that Dean would freeze up and watch like that.
So, during this ep, Castiel gets more human and Uriel takes up the slack. Their true orders were to obey Dean even if the adorable, baby seal was broken. Interesting! Sam being groomed by one side, Dean by the other. I hope it doesn’t come down to brother against brother at the very end. I really, really want Sam and Dean to end up as a fucking impenetrable united front against a host of Big Bads. When they lock eyes with people, should be like trying to stare down the sun, they're so powerful together.
…ahem. Sorry. Looks like it’s time to start writing fic again…
