I've been listening to a Dan Carlin podcast series recently about the end of the Roman republic. One of the factors Carlin speculates contributed to the final end of the republic was that when Caesar took what was supposed to be temporary power he held it so long that an entire generation grew up under a dictator, never seeing how the republic was ( Read more... )

Interesting post- I think you hit several nails on the head. If you add to that the issues with the so-called "boomerang generation" which is mostly the same people, it gets even worse. It occurred to me that this is a large part of the reasons for my desire to run off to the country and start a goat farm. Is it running away? Oh hell yes, and I don't deny that ( ... )

Right with Sarah here: interesting post. I've long noticed the similarities between America and the Roman empire. So are we on the cusp of a Caesar, or the barbarian hordes at our doorstep?
