so went this outdoor play last night
and not only was it wonderful, it made me wonder once again why I quit acting. not just because it looked like a blast: hard work but a blast none the less. but because of the smell of summer air, a kind of tree, and- of all things- bug spray. I dont know if I mentioned it before but I did a Shakespeare festival once when I was sixteen. it was outdoors and at an old English manor (literally- they shipped this manor from England and rebuilt it on the James River) and there were these trees or bushes that just smelled so good. but the outdoor nature of it meant bugs and therefore bugspray. i bloody well bathed in that stuff . so fast foward seven years to an outdoor drama set in the 1580s. at any theatre production I kind of get nostalgic anyway but then my brother's girlfriend opened up a bottle of bug spray and that smell mixed with the trees or bushes and summer air just made me get all kinds of nostalgic . I reeeeeeeaaalllly miss doing theatre. as shy as I am, I really came out of my shell doing that. but its not a stable job so i decided to go into English and then get my Masters in Library Science. I just miss doing theatre so much.
