every congregation has total control, so that being said, each congregation can vary greatly.
some are very judeo-christian, whereas others eschew any type of "religion" and are focused on social justice and philosophy.
i had an incredibly balanced religious education, and learned about every faith, while having "church" out on a nature walk. we had drum circles, and were encouraged to tell the president (reagan) what we thought he was doing wrong.
many of my christian friends have commented that i know more about christianity and the bible than they.
personally, i have been thinking of joining out here in texass, because i would like to get more "involved" and spend more time with sentient beings who are not my cat.

a BIG component of this is real sex ed, and detailed information on GLBT youth issues, safe sex, birth control and other realtistic and timely teachings for today's youth.
this was a huge plus in my book.

(Unfortunately, I don't even believe remotely in divinities these days, so I'm just done with all church. Also we moved, making it less convenient. I worship at the church of my bed, see.)
