I'm not sure if it's still there, but it was when I took this picture Summer 2009. It was the most profound moment of my trip. I just stumbled across it and began crying.

Interesting sculpture. Does it stand for something I can't see.

I was listening to NPR radio today and the writer of a book interviewed. It was about how he thought in the days following 9/11 that it would turn the U.S. around the decline that was started would stop and things would change. That the daily lives of people would change and neither has happened.

I didn't hear the beginning so don't know what his premise was.

I believe it has changed the daily lives of Americans in ways his book didn't recognize.

It's a sculpture called The Sphere, which once stood at Ground Zero. It was pulled from the rubble and now stands at Battery Park as a memorial (though it is still to find a permanent home).

I believe that day changed the world in many ways. It lost a little more of its innocence.

On this day 10 years ago, the world has changed. We should never forget.

It's scary to think about it, it still makes me so sad. Even though I am on the other side of the world, I remember the moment we heard about it on the news, and watching the coverage on CNN. I will never, ever forget the moment we saw the second tower collapse on TV - I was with my parents and we were so stunned while watching. It seemed so surreal.
