Well, I've been super busy lately, trying to keep up with work, but more with family dramas that just aren't worth rehashing here right now, because this (LJ) and TV are my escape... My happy place!
In my last post I expressed my sadness at the announcement that this will be the last season of The Office. Well, we're three episodes in, and the series looks to be finishing on a high. They're revisiting old story lines and giving some closure to characters that were long ago left behind, and finally giving some forward progression to others who have been stuck within the walls of Dunder Mifflin for far too long. I'm loving every second, and I'll say this now to all series writers.... THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE! There's so much respect for the characters and their history, and I feel this goodbye season might just set the standards for graceful exits!
On the other hand, I am FUMING at the writers of my favourite show Glee, which is taking the lazy way of cliched plot devices and swinging characterisations to create drama. There's a 4 week hiatus, and unlike every other season break or hiatus, I will not be counting the hours til it's return. I need this break to get over my anger! As much as I loved QAF, I wasn't in the fandom until after the fact, but I can now appreciate the outpouring of anger and emotion at the writers for the many times they ignored character continuity for the sake of drama/plot. I'd like to say a big F#CK YOU to the Glee writers, but I'm too invested to give up the show now. I know I'll be back, but for now I'll just stew.
I'm taking an abnormal delight in a show called Turtle Man... A show tat chronicles the antics of a southern hick who likes to chase raccoons around barns, and capture little snapping turtles as if they were man eating crocodiles (turns out they will not harm humans unless threatened). I predict he will go the way of Steve Irwin and end up as raccoon poo! I will then have another good laugh at his expense.
Another awesome show on Aussie TV is I Will Survive... It's a musical theatre competition looking for manly feet to fill the heels of a drag queen in Priscilla Queen Of The Desert. My favourite actor from Jersey Boys ( the Aussie production that is) is in it, and I'm every bit in love with him on my TV as I was the three times I've seen him on stage. Anyway, hot boys singing and dancing and camping it up week after week.... What's not to love!
Finally, I'm going to leave you with some pics of my recent weekend escape with the family... Somewhat of a disaster for a few reasons, one of which implores me to advise you to keep your mobile phone at least 100 yards from the ocean's edge. My beloved new blackberry is now octopus food in the Great Southern Ocean.
