Things I don't talk about enough on my LJ : #2 Movies

Movies... I see a fair few these days, mostly with my movie buddy shammymacc. Today was Silver Linings Playbook. I really liked it... She didn't. I hope the cake we shared afterwards made up for that!

As I said, I liked the movie, and it was exactly what I expected (based on the preview I saw months ago). I liked the rather accurate depictions of the daily ( Read more... )

I liked it and I really like Jennifer Lawrence, but I don't quite understand the huge deal about it. But every year people fall in love with something and I'm okay with her win.

That's pretty much my position. I'm not saying it was a poor performance, and I really like her too, it just wasn't what I usually expect from an Oscar winning role/performance

What did you watch on the flight then? Masterpiece Theatre with Keira? ;)

Our Sunday paper had a piece about the Adelaide Festival today: apparently it's the place to be this March. The trendy cinema seems to be The Trak, on the edge of Toorak GArdens: "You'll see a guy with a ponytail and jandals next to woman in a suit." Oh, these wild Adelaidians!

Silver Lining Playbook is one of the two Oscar-nominated films I haven't yet seen. But I will! I feel compelled to do them all this year.

No Kiera Knightly, thank god. I tried instead to sink my teeth into The Land Of Stories and failed miserably. Fanfic, both reading and writing, won out.

Ah you have me giggling away to myself here!

It's true I did not like the move... The last 30 minutes was ok but until that point, your presence and the fact that pretty much everyone in the theatre was in our row was the only thing keeping me in my seat! LOL

I see you weren't subjected to Russian literature on the plain to your great relief so hopefully your trip will be a good one!

I'd like to see SLP as I'm quite partial to Bradley Cooper and he looks like he did a great job in the movie.

Saw "Hitchcock" and loved it. Totally enthralling from start to finish which I wasn't expecting. Scarlet is just amazing as Janet Leigh.

Just watched "Safe Haven" with the luscious Josh Duhamel. I really went just to perv on him but the movie was enjoyable. A bit of a twist at the end.

I was in London a while back and Keira Knightly was starring in The Children's Hour, a play by a favorite writer, Lillian Hellman and latent lesbianism to boot, and I would not go see it because of Keira. I am glad to find another Keira-phobe!
