Your main fandom of the year?
Not much change - MCU in terms of fanworks consumed, Doctor Who for flailing over source material/tumblr reblogs.
Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Hamilton! Other new fandoms I enjoyed include Sense8, Steven Universe, Jupiter Ascending and now Star Wars. I also love Supergirl but haven't sought out fanworks for it yet.
Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
I enjoyed Age of Ultron far more than a lot of fandom, but I have been saddened by some of what we know about the future direction of the MCU films. Ant-Man's existence was bad enough, but the casting of Bandersnatch Cummerbund in Doctor Strange killed what little interest I had there, and having Captain Marvel pushed back in favour of yet another Spiderman is depressing. But there's hopefully some good stuff coming up too, and despite not shipping any of the juggernaut fandom ships I still find plenty to enjoy hanging out in that corner of the internet.
Your fandom boyfriend of the year?
Lin-Manuel Miranda. I just. He's so amazing and wonderful and I want to be his friend.
Your fandom girlfriend of the year?
If I can limit myself to three - Peggy Carter, Amy Santiago, Amanita from Sense8.
Your biggest squee moments of the year?
- River Song coming back to Doctor Who for Christmas
- The 'What's Going On' scene in Sense8
- Rey and all her Big Damn Hero moments in Star Wars
- absolutely everything about Spy, which was such a great, fun film, and honestly blew me away a bit with Melissa McCarthy as its heroic fat protagonist
- the Parks and Rec series finale
The most missed of your old fandoms?
I always miss the Ponds.
The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
happydork and I are currently mainlining Jane the Virgin season one, which is just as delightful as everyone said it was, and I've just started Jessica Jones.
Your biggest fan anticipations for the coming year?
- Luke Cage! I'm so pleased he's getting his own show.
- Going to New York to see Hamilton in June.
- Agent Carter season 2.
- the continuation of the shows I currently watch - Supergirl, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, How to Get Away With Murder
- finding out who the new Doctor Who companion will be
Vids Roundup
I made 7 vids in 2015.
Festivids
The Hardest of Hearts (Maleficent)
She Keeps Me Warm (Saving Face)
Get Lucky (Singin' in the Rain)
Between (Doctor Who, Clara, Twelve & Danny, s8 overview)
Fly (multifandom, awesome women)
Uptown Funk (Parks and Recreation, Vidukon premiere)
We Got History (Multifandom, fannish review of the year)
The Questions
Favorite
A tie between We Got History and Fly - I may not always love the process of making multifandom vids, but I love the results.
Most Successful
I was delighted by the response to Fly, particularly at a time where DW comments generally are down a lot.
Most Fun to Make
Uptown Funk meant going back and rewatching a lot of my favourite Parks and Rec scenes and giggling a lot.
Hardest Vid to Make
I managed to delete The Hardest of Hearts and had to reconstruct it, which I think made it a better vid but sucked at the time!
The Things I Learned This Year
Making quick/last minute festivids treats is an absurd amount of fun. I also learned to be a little less scared of tackling extensive new source material after managing to go through 7 seasons of Parks and Rec.
Planning for Next Year
I've got a Star Wars cam vid I'm just finishing up now, and then I need to polish off my main festivids assignment and hopefully do some treats. Also
purplefringe and I are hopefully going to collaborate again this year and that's always the best.
