Um, Hi?

May 30, 2012 12:32

I have not been on LJ in a really long time. I can tell, because just now, when I went to tab out all I've missed, I got to "Skip 650". Um, that's a whole lot. It will take me a really long time to read everything, and I'm not sure that I'll have lots of time. I thought I was going to. And then I didn't. If you get me commenting on things that you ( Read more... )

I've missed you! I have so much catching up to do, it might be forever before I get to NOW (whenever that will be when I get there...)

(though I might do a locked post in the next day or so as well as this one...?)

Can't wait to read all the things that you've posted in the intrim.

Oh, and I'm sorry On Golden Pond was not as well attended. I really enjoyed it when I saw it, but then, I saw Hume Cronin and Jessica Tandy (didn't look up spelling so sorry if I got it wrong) on Broadway, so it was pretty awesome. One of the local theatres is about to open To Kill a Mockingbird and I wonder what kind of crowds they'll get.

Is your theatre dark during the summer or do you have a summer show? I might be heading up that way and I would love to check it out if I could work it...

Heh, what is this dark that you mention? We closed On Golden Pond on Sunday and loaded in a ballet school yesterday, they leave on Sunday and we load in Sweeney on Monday. That opens on the 27th of June and runs until the 22 of July. On July 23rd, Disney's Little Mermaid load in for a weel run, then out the following week. That leaves and Grease comes in... No dark time until possibly March of next week...

To Kill a Mockingbird? Man, I hope they have a better script than the one we read - it was atrocious! Beyond atrocious!

Good luck with your reading and I hope you did get to your Indian buffet!

Not surprisingly, I'm off to write (if I can get our new kitten - see icon - off the mouse!

Well, hello! I'm alive as well, but even more MIA than you are. Who knew having teenagers would keep me so busy? I'm sure that I did not get that memo. Eldest dd had film camp this week, which made me think of your eldest dd, and then of you, so here I am.

I hope your meds do the trick. I've had good results with Lexapro and Celexa; it really can help.

OMG! HI! I've missed you! I was trapped in your city (assuming you are still there?) about a year and a half ago when we were at a birthday party and Hubby wound up being rushed to the hospital. It was a harrowing several days. I thought of you, but it'd been so long since I talked to you...

Film camp sounds awesome. I can't believe the girls are all teens now. They get old so fast. My D#1 just turned 19! She's going to be spending the summer with friends tooling around Europe, then meeting up with D#2 and the two of them are going to spend a week in Scotland with a friend (the one's who's birthday party was in your city, actually).

Not sure if the meds are working yet. Yesterday was pretty bad. *sigh* He has me on Viibryd? I'm glad yours is working for you!

omigosh I can't believe you didn't call me! for funzies AND to help with the whole "rushing to the hospital in a strange city" part. I could have . . . um, not done much, I guess, but I could have given moral support, dang it. For the record, we will always be here - my family is like the Mafia, no escape - and I'll welcome a call or message even if we haven't spoken in ages.

My girls are about to turn 12 and 14, so still young-ish. dd14 can't date, so "going out" mostly means chatting on Facebook and hanging out at homeschool events and at the house, lol. She did go to her first dance - message me your email and I'll send you pics.

I haven't heard of your meds, but they are the same type as mine, SSRI. I'm sure the lower dose is why it is taking longer. I hope it hurries up and works!

Me again. I read a couple of posts back, and I'm wondering why your doc is going with such a low dose of meds? I mean, you don't have to answer me, I'm just hoping there was valid reasoning behind it - it could certainly be why you aren't feeling a change yet. And don't beat yourself up if you find it very difficult to do all the recommended stuff like exercising, enjoying hobbies, and so on. I mean, hello, if I could bounce right off the couch and do all those things, that's kind of my definition of NOT DEPRESSED. Depression is when I find it difficult to force myself to do even fun things, and when cooking dinner seems like an overwhelming task. Meds get me past that, and then those other things become possible. They can definitely help "maintain" but they are not going to resolve a depression (for me ( ... )

I don't mind answering. He's going the cautious route for fear of side effects? I've already had massive stomach trouble right after he doubled the dose (did I write about that yet? I don't remember what I've written, please excuse me telling you things you've already read elsewhere...). I'm now taking the lowest dose I'm supposed to take. Not sure if it's helping yet, but I figure you need to give these things time.

And thanks, you make some really good points. I have a lot to work on. Clearly.

I was so sad that D#2 broke up with her bf, I liked him. On the other hand, we were all thrilled that D#1 broke up with hers. They'd been together for 2 years, and he was here, while she was up state at college. She kept coming out here to see him, and then they would fight and she'd leave in tears. It was dreadful. We are all hoping the break up is permanent.

How old are your girls now? I know I'm picturing them way younger than they must be by now. Time goes by way too quickly.
