my hotel was sort of shitty, much like my room in shreveport. by the time i arrived in town i was so exhausted i didn't bother to do much of anything other than walk across the street to a wal-mart. the hotel was spitting distance within some college or university or tech school that opened the day before for freshman orientation. coeds drank miller lite by the pool from around eleven till four am. the cashiers at wal-mart were kind. i had no idea you were from texas.

lubbockites (as they are affectionately known) have zero taste in beer.
texas, born and bred. probably 45 miles from that hotel. my father's a cotton farmer; your descriptions of the red-soil south are visceral to me, since it covered my childhood.
the college is texas tech. such dewy-eyed freshmen!
