[There is a new vampire on the boat, already out of his room and using the nightfall to walk the decks slowly. As he does so, he leaves his message:]These lines have been crowded with the typical drivel I've come to expect of humans, even from those who claim to be otherwise

You've lost your friend? Goodness, a lot of people have been losing them lately. I hope it's not a troll stealing them away. That would be just terrible...

[Eric lacks disdain in his words; he is informing her that her description does not apply here. But her words about losing people could be troublesome, given the recent disappearance of one Godric.]
What do you know of these disappearances?
[...it feels unnatural to ask what sounds clearly human for information. The reverse is usually standard.]

Well, another boy was searching for his own friends, but I have heard of some people having friends just.. disappear. I'm not sure where they went, but some of them have yet to appear again.
It's very sad...

No similarities exist?

[Eric considered the use of 'planning' before speaking and its particular emphasis belies that.
No, he's not planning anything, but if somewhere were to have happened to Godric? Retaliation may have occurred. He is not the pretty blond vampire that is on television, after all.]

[Her voice is soft but easy to hear.]
Might I ask, sir, what you are?

He has been located, but your response is... appropriate.
[Eric projects no particular emotion with this, but his voice lacks a portion of that unforgiving edge it possessed earlier. And that was almost an appreciated, but he would not go so far as to say that.
That Godric has been found makes her next question tolerable, enough to warrant a response and those fangs -- he likes baring them, what can he say.]
I am vampire.
[A pause and you can see the ghost of a smirk.]
Perhaps more appropriately known as "that thing your mother warned you about."

[She's happy he found Godric, but mostly relieved that no one was harmed in the process.]
Vampire. I'm afraid I'm unfamiliar with that title.
[Hell, she's not familiar with most terms used on this boat. When she speaks again, she sounds amused.]
My mother warned me of beasts and shifters, but never a vampire.

[No one was harmed, but his fangs hurt from Lilith's neck. Yes, he will get back to her on that later.]
Then she turned you out on the world short very critical knowledge.
[Eric is not familiar with people who are not vampire-familiar, so don't feel along in the uninformed department.]

I wonder what it is you are lacking...

[Were you in his presence, this would be the part that Eric would lean forward to share a little detail just between you and him.]
A heartbeat.

[Hmph!]
So you're like Godric, then. Are you Varney?
Reply
[Like Godric? Eric has no idea how long his maker has been here and what he has spoken of. He is, however, getting a very clear picture that it has been a lot.]
No, I am not. I am Eric.
[Here he almost sounds like he laughs. Varney was one of the first modern pushes of vampiric propaganda and, like many others, contains ridiculous concepts meant to mislead the humans.]
