After finally completing it, I can honestly say that I bet that only 10% (at most) of people actually read that stupid book. Certainly no one with basic common sense did. What a goddamn waste of time.

you know what the worst part was? i can summarize it in maybe 5 lines.

1. family moves to summer home; things are okay
2. family has dinner party; things are bad, then good
3. time passes; mom dies, two kids die *cry*
4. things are different now that they are gone
5. lily completes painting

i bet i could get an 80% or better on any quiz mr. gere throws at us, knowing ONLY that information.
