Theme set: Alpha
Title: His Sun to Her Moon

To my other Alice x Hatter ficlets

01. Comfort. Alice found solace in the way Hatter’s arms wrapped around her waist so tightly and Hatter found comfort in the feel of her, soft as lavender blossoms and delicate as honeysuckle.

02. Kiss. The first kiss had been ecstatic, but what made Hatter different was that their third, tenth and thousandth kiss had been just as wonderful.

03. Soft. Her skin is like the softest of satin and for a moment Hatter gets lost in the feel of it, and then her low throaty growl reminds him that he had her topless for a reason.

04. Pain. Touching the bite mark on her collarbone hurts, but it hurts in that good kind of way that pulls her back to the moment when he left it there.

05. Potatoes. It’s hard for Hatter to tell her that he thinks these things they call French Fries are disgusting, especially when she gives him that pouty glace, but he does so anyway for the sake of his stomach.

06. Rain. It’s raining when they leave the restaurant and Alice has forgotten her coat and Hatter is tempted to let her become a pretty girl in a very wet dress again, but instead he wraps her up in his own coat while they hail a cabby because otherwise it would go against his moral code.

07. Chocolate. The truffle crumbled between Alice’s lips just perfectly and when she moaned for the flavors mingling on her lips Hatter had to excuse himself from the room; Carol was sitting right next to them.

08. Happiness. Hatter had not felt happiness frequently, until Alice had crossed his path, and then with every glance and stolen look elation took him higher.

09. Telephone. It had taken at least an hour for Alice to explain that she was not talking to herself, but to a real person on the other end of the little metal device clinging to her ear.

10. Ears. Alice lined his neck with kisses all the way up to his earlobe and when Hatter let out a low growl of longing Alice had to suppress her urge to giggle.

11. Name. It was awkward rolling off of her lips; “David” was just too common for how wild her Hatter was.

12. Sensual. Hatter could make her melt with a single touch, whisper, or smirk, it was just a matter of which sense he decided to tickle.

13. Death. He searched every day for a sign of aging, because his worst fear by far was that his Wonderlander lifespan would force him to live years and years without her.

14. Sex. The way he makes her grip her sheets tight and bite at anything within reach while only using his tongue is good, but it’s never enough; it’s only enough when they’ve wrapped themselves up in each other and they’re complete again.

15. Touch. They touch each other as often as they can get away with, it’s simply a finger grazing an eyebrow or a pair of lips kissing a cheek; you don’t have to know them to see what a touch is to them.

16. Weakness. Hatter had not known what true difficulty was for many years, then Alice had made him feel powerless to protect her and he was reacquainted with weakness.

17. Tears. He had cried real tears, the first in a long time, after watching Alice fall back through the Looking Glass, away from him.

18. Speed. She had left Wonderland all too quickly, and he had taken too much time in making his decision to follow her, but when he was falling through the Looking Glass he couldn’t fall fast enough.

19. Wind. The wind could not carry them away from the Hearts Casino fast enough, but if he could keep her arms around him longer, he wouldn’t mind.

20. Freedom. He had always worked both sides of the fence; a slave to both the system and those rebelling against it, but Alice had given Hatter something he could decide on and in doing so Alice had set him free.

21. Life. Hatter knew that life would not easy on the other side of the Looking Glass, he’d have to get a job and an education and some kind of identification, but for Alice it was worth the hassle.

22. Jealousy. It was the waiter who smiled just a little too wide at her, the prince who hugged her a little too tight, the man whose hand lingered a little too long on her shoulder; these where the men who made Hatter crazy with jealousy, a feeling he was unfamiliar with.

23. Hands. For a man who had been involved in smuggling, treason, and doubtlessly murder, Hatter’s hands were left surprisingly uncalloused and soft.

24. Taste. He was almost willing to say he preferred the taste of her kisses to the taste of a good tea, but asking Hatter to choose between the two would have ended with your head most thoroughly rammed up your ass.

25. Devotion. What is left unsaid is that Hatter is utterly committed to Alice; it’s not as though someone leaves their home world for just any girl who wanders past.

26. Forever. He’d like to ask her to spend forever with him, but he leaves the question lingering on the tip of his tongue, he’s not that confident while he is so new to this side of the glass.

27. Blood. When Alice sees the blood from Hatter’s lip, even though she knows it is superficial damage and he can take care himself, she bursts and leaves the assailant regretting he ever came upon the happy couple in the park that night.

28. Sickness. When Alice comes down with the flu, it forces coughs that sound as though they are scraping her lungs clean with a rusty spoon and Hatter wishes that this ‘flu fellow’ had a face that his right fist could deal a good amount of punishment to him.

29. Melody. When Alice subconsciously sings along to a love ditty over the radio, Hatter doesn’t have to know what it’s about to know it’s his favorite song.

30. Star. Hatter could be a hopeless romantic sometimes, with statements as bold as “You are my star, my dearest Alice, guide me and shine for me as you are right now, for always.”

31. Home. He did not need a place to sleep, a roof to cover his head, a heater to keep him warm; the only home he needed was in Alice’s heart.

32. Confusion. He’s in a state of complete confusion when for three days she swings from loving everything he says and does to just yelling at the entire world; it takes more than a few words to explain hormone pills to him.

33. Fear. A Wonderland heart feels so little by comparison to the Oyster’s pearl of a center, so when Hatter realizes how much he loves his Alice he is terrified that there’s no room for anything else.

34. Lightning/Thunder. Lightning booms and thunder crashes, but they sleep through what the news will call ‘the storm of the decade’ because they are too caught up in each other’s arms to notice anything else.

35. Bonds. Alice had never been one for commitment, but the ties she feels to Hatter make her realize that in this case it is too late to avoid it.

36. Market. The Hatter is clearly off the market, as told by the Alice attached to his arm, but that doesn’t mean the women stop flirting with him; it is Alice’s wrath that stops the women from flirting.

37. Technology. Hatter is still a bit technologically challenged, so when Hatter is learning all that is the internet Alice is patient with him, because when he teaches her tea he is patient with her.

38. Gift. She opens a box she wasn’t supposed to notice, and when she sees the pendant, a black diamond top hat, she nearly runs, but then she realizes that she wants this and she decides to wait for Hatter to give the gift as it was intended to be given.

39. Smile. When he places the pendant on her neck, a declaration of the fact that he is hers and she is his, she can’t help but smile from ear to ear.

40. Innocence. Hatter is by no means innocent, having killed and swindled and dealt, but when he’s with Alice, something makes him feel pure again.

41. Completion. Time has not ticked for the Hatter in a very long time, but suddenly, in Alice’s arms, the world starts moving again and all the feeling he hasn’t had for years comes back and there’s a word there to describe what he’s feeling, if he searches he can find it: whole.

42. Clouds. “That cloud is the color of Bliss,” Hatter points it out to Alice and grips her hand tighter, “that cloud is the color of everything I feel for you.”

43. Sky. He can’t possibly measure exactly how much he loves her, but he can say that all of the sky is much smaller than how much he feels.

44. Heaven. He was reaching for the heavens when he hoped to capture Alice’s heart, and when he succeeded Hatter knew he held stars in the palm of his hand.

45. Hell. Hatter could be little hellion, that was to be sure, but Alice love him anyway; she knew he was capable of far more than just mischief.

46. Sun. He can light up her day with a single smile, no matter how horrible her day was, and she knows that he is her Sunshine even if she does not say so.

47. Moon. It is said that the light of the moon can drive a man mad or bring him to great revelations; if that is so then Hatter knows Alice to be his moon, because it is she who can move him or break him with so little as a glance.

48. Waves. His emotions with Alice come in waves of Happiness, Ecstasy, Excitement, and Adventure, and it’s better than any tea concoction he had ever sold at the shop.

49. Hair. Her hair smells of roses and cinnamon and vanilla and perfection and Hatter lets himself get lost in the scent for hours while she’s sleeping next to him.

50. Supernova. It was a stellar phenomenon when he has her naked beneath him for the first time; Alice molds perfectly against his form and kisses and gasps at all the right moments and Hatter almost thinks that it can’t be, it’s simply too astounding to be happening right then.
