This is SO weird. And we've always had such good dealings with the Marriott in previous years.

Actually, when I called the regular reservations number this year she immediately knew I had to call a different number and gave the right Passkey number.

But it's really odd that they're saying the nights outside of Con are sold out. I even asked if I could book a room for one night on the Monday before Con, and they said it was sold out. That's ridiculous. I'm sure they just haven't released the rooms or something.

I bet the Hyatt, Hilton, Sheraton or Westin still have rooms, if you're willing to go "once more into the breach".

Well, I wish I had spoken with the people in the know. My luck was to speak with a string of people NOT in the know. I'll hold out hope I can get a room in the future with another block. I can't believe EVERY ROOM in that entire hotel sold out in less than an hour. I had to pay full price this year so if I have to do it next year I will, but the entire situation was so mind bogglingly frustrating.

It is definitely a crazily frustrating situation...

I was even getting paranoid that they were instructed not to let someone who mentioned D*C book any rooms outside of Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun.

I mean sold out on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before Con? And all the way from Con til Sept 18 (the earliest possible date Marriott lets anyone book being 50 weeks before)?

The operator at the regular number suspected they had only released Con-rate rooms so far, and that the other rooms were not bookable yet, while the one at Passkey was adamant that the rooms were literally all gone for those days.

Absolutely headbashingly annoying.

(meant to reply in the thread. *headdesk*)

Well SOMEONE knows. I'll keep working to see if I can find out. If I don't get to go, I don't get to go. I just wish they didn't have such a captive audience. Without it maybe customer service would be more important.
