I rejoice for the NEW world's oldest person who has been waiting patiently in the wings for their moment of glory.

Gee, I hope the new-old person has at least one photo op for blowing out candles on a cake. Maybe when you've lived that long, living that long is its own reward?

The world's youngest person is born so much more often. There's probably some way to model these rates.

Come to think of it, the world's youngest person also dies much more often.

Maybe. I don't know. This depends on a careful analysis based on when you define someone to be a person. If it's very close to when someone often dies, then yes. Otherwise, new people are made so rapidly that it might be rare for the world's youngest person to die.

Yeah, in this instance, I'm defining "person" as someone born alive. If there are just 2 newborns who die seconds after birth, then that's one more than 1 oldest person dying every year or so (I was meaning a lot more "youngests" die than "oldests," not than are born. Of course, millions more are born than die in the first seconds of life, we can be sure of that.).

I'm always amazed that there are human beings that make it to 115 - 120.
