Suicidal ideation is more than just depression and escaping pain. It's also about not being a burden to your loved ones. Yes, you know your death will come as a shock to them, and be painful for a time, but you feel that it is still better overall for them than having to deal with your depression, your true self behind the smiling goofy mask of normalcy. Therefore, someone considering suicide won't reach out for help, by default.
