"Little Miss Sunshine" was the funniest movie I have seen in years. I rarely laugh at comedies but I laughed hard and consistently throughout this one. It does have some flaws, but I highly recommend this film.
I've seen the preview about eight times, and so am completely bored with it. From it I thought the movie looked entertaining, but perhaps a bit too far on the "precocious and smart writing, coupled with idiosynchratic characters" side of things.
My first priority right now is Strangers With Candy. It's finally playing here.
But from all appearances we seem to be in perfect agreement, so why the pointed words? I've seen the preview many times, as have you; I noted the characters all seem like self-satisfied eccentrics, you didn't comment or bring up a counterpoint, so agreement is assumed; I want to see the movie (as can be read in my "first priority" line, which implies this movie as second priority), as do you. So back off all right?
I was not expecting much from Little Miss so it surprised me. I thought it looked kind of cookie cutter eccentric like thumbsucker but the movie totally worked for me as a comedy and almost made me cry at one point, even though it is not at all realistic.
