Hurricane Hermine

Sep 08, 2010 03:34

As of 3AM Wednesday, we've had 10.2 inches of rain at our house since Tuesday morning. So far the 16-months old roof is only leaking in the garage. The golf is a lake - a golf cart beached on our deck. It is still pouring, and the radar screen is red and yellow for hours.

OK - I'm kidding about the golf cart.

Le sigh. I'd take a third of your rain, in one-inch increments so as not to cause runoff problems. We've had no rain, not a drop, for close to two weeks and precious little before that. It's caused a drop in the mosquito population, but that's scant comfort as I watch the lake dry up at my favorite park.

More rain today. So we went to see "The American". Dry, very dry.

Golf course spongy today - not a golfer in sight. Rare, as I have seen them sloshing through rain, lightening and thunder. Roof people come tomorrow - probably to tell us that the wonderful warranty is not valid if the leak comes from a rain on a Tuesday.

I go in search of a glass of dry, white wine.
