This questions are similar to those I used to ask kids as part of a mental health program for youth in the juvenile justice system, designed to prevent recidivism, the idea being, a child in a healthy environment is not likely to act against the law without cause, so there's almost always more to the story, and it's important to begin healing at the root cause, rather than just punish the offenders in detention, and create a vicious cycle. That was 20 years ago in the state of MN, and at the time, it was the only program of its kind in the nation. I'm glad to see others are starting to get on board with the concept and follow suit.
Yes! Super important. I've been asking these questions in my field too. I am excited the medical world is catching up with the mental health world and starting to use these screening questions at PCP visits. I think itll break down stigmas and greatly increase access to care!
