What an unusual appearance the city has taken. Am I correct in understanding that this is meant to be a form of festivities? How peculiar that humans would celebrate something in such a morose and macabre fashion.

I believe it is now Halloween. Back on Earth, my planet, we have a festival which celebrates scary things and creatures, like vampires and werewolves and the like. People often try to scare one another and hand out candy to children in tradition. They also dress up in costumes.

At a human party, you go to interact with other people by talking about things you like. There is often food and drink served in parties, and sometimes there are even games. In Halloween parties, people often dress up in costumes and talk about scary stories and play theme-related games.

Do you understand?

It's because it's so morose that it's festive. There's many stories on the origins of Halloween, after all, including lore of the dead rising from the grave.

It is almost as though humans celebrate and imitate that which Alternians would simply consider routine and mundane. However, I find it odd that such dark colors are used in regards to the dead rising from the grave.

Actually, that depends on the culture. For some, the color of the unsettling darkness represents death. For others, the bleached bone white.

White seems a more suitable color and theme to me, as all of the undead I have encountered are capable of living only in the scathing light of the daytime Alternian sun.
