"- Olivia hasn't really been taking point on the investigations. They've been giving it to Lincoln, and that bothers me. It makes me feel like Olivia isn't as driven or as motivated."

I think, now that you mention this, that's exactly what's bugging me about this episode. I watched it a second time because I figured I'd missed somethin the first time around, but I just couldn't figure out what. I liked it, but something was right. It was Olivia's fire, her curiosity. So while we're meant to think that maybe her life was better without existence, it still seems to be lacking so much. Gotta wonder what influence Nina *really* had on her growing up.

Yes, when I wrote a character manifesto for Olivia for het_reccers this past summer, I pinpointed this particular point about her character that made me love her:

"Olivia has had to be a protector for others since she was nine-years-old, and she is determined that she will not fail the many innocent people she encounters in the crimes she investigates the way she feels that she failed her mother all those years ago."

Olivia just seems to not have the same drive or motivation because she doesn't have that same sense of failure...I don't know. I'm interested in seeing how this all progresses...

exactly the neo-shapeshifter stuff kind of distracted from the interactions I really wanted to see...*sigh*

but like I said, the promo looks good! :)

Ngl, this episode left me kind of cold. Which is sad because I was so SO excited for it. But, despite all the hubbub they made about Peter being back in the promo, he didn't have much to do with the episode at all. As a matter of fact, the only time in the whole episode that I felt as excited about the show as I did in the three previous seasons was when Peter hardwired the intercom into a microphone and listening device. Cos, well, that's Peter as I remember him ( ... )

I feel like the episodes that are supposed to be about Peter, never really ARE. We never get to feel as connected to him as a character as we could be (ex. Northwest Passage).

Agree about the hardwiring the intercom...so like the Peter we know and love.

The thing is I've been really excited about this season (and was in love with the last episode), but it's not until this episode that I've had to step back and wonder what they're doing and where this is going. But the promo for the next two episodes does look good and makes me excited.

but yeah, like I put, this was the first episode where Amber!Olivia really felt like a different person from Blue!Olivia and I'm so in love with our Olivia so yeah...it makes it hard to feel invested when your favorite character is MISSING.

Anyways, we'll see after these next two episodes. I'm keeping the faith. There were things about S3 that I didn't like, especially in the beginning, but I ended up liking the season overall so I have faith.
