I made a new friend. <3333

*pushes forward Muffin*

Muffin is a cactus. <3 I was passing her on the street and simply fell in love. (Okay, so I went out to buy a plant and Muffin caught my eye.)

Cacti are truly wonderful creatures, if one pauses to think. For one thing, they're as difficult to read as human beings are (difficult for those who aren't ( Read more... )

Muffin? ^_^ Interesting name for a cactus.

I rather think it looks like a muffin.

I had a cactus once. It died due to lack of sunlight.
Plants like sunlight, word to the wise.

Muffin has a perfectly sunny spot, as you can see. But thank you for the advice.

Sorry about your cactus.

That's good, glad to be of help.

It's okay, a friend bought it me in an attempt to make me cheer up. Didn't really work.

I hope you realize that your dear "Muffin" is dying. Hence the brown color of rot and decay that seems to be eating your "Muffin" from the inside out.

I regret to inform you that your observation is most terribly inaccurate, being that the "brown color of rot" you have identified is in fact the color of "my dear 'Muffin's'" spikes. Though I suppose your misconception is understandable--the shadow and the angle of the photograph do darken them considerably.

"Imnotamommasboy," eh? ...don't you carry your mother's head around in a box?

...You may actually be right. Perhaps Muffin simply has an overabundance of spikes, thus obscuring the green stem underneath. *looks closely at picture*

Or could it be that you've actually been neglecting Muffin? Yes, CAM and C4 plants are perfectly adapted to arid conditions, but even hardy plants such as those will wilt when faced with prolonged desiccation.

The succulents are, of course, water storing and have specialized adaptations such as modified leaves (which reduces the surface area in which transpiration can occur) and an alternate mode of carbon fixation especially suited to hot, arid climes (the C4 and CAM - crassulacean acid metabolism - system, which replaces the usual C3 system - common in plants native to a more temperate region)...

...Yet, your cactus seems to be producing an overabundance of abscisic acid. I suggest that you water Muffin more often.

Mother? What business do you have with her?

((ooc: At least my biology class has useful applications in (kinda) real life. XD;;))

In which case, I will gracefully accept your advice, though I am fairly certain Muffin is in prime condition. Her checkup was fine. :/

I have no business with your mother, not to worry. ...but. Do you carry her head around? (I've heard this much--it's why I inquire.)

((OOC: I was going to say~))

hi there, nonlesbian!

It would be difficult for me to be a lesbian, being that I lack the necessary additional X chromosome.

But hello nonetheless. I believe we've spoken before?

If you could teach me how to pet Muffin, I would certainly be in your debt. 8D

I rather like that idea. We must plan an appointment.

How unlike you. You never seemed the type to care about plants.

Voldemort, Ryuuzaki? I hope you know what you're doing.

That alliance is purely for intellectual purposes... Furthermore, he does seem a bit sinister. It's something I'd like to investigate.

If you say so.

It's not exactly difficult to find out who he is, you know.

Oh, I'm well aware that he is the Dark Lord or some other such nonsense. However, I think it would be interesting to discover Voldemort's intentions and powers from the source himself. ...I don't really mind being out in the open so much anymore.
