Don't worry too much sweetie, I'm sure your mum wouldn't talk about some thinging like that on the phone when she knew you or Nick were at home.
Either way I could understand your concern and being upset, it's the not knowing and the what if. It may bring a lot of thingS that you don't and shouldn't need to think about. (Sorry if I'm not helping, do you understand what I'm trying v. badly to say?)
I get freaked out when my mum reminisces, I think it's a mothers prerogative!
I think the best thing for you to do is for you to make you both some tea, talk to her and tell her you're worried etc.
