Part of my job is providing design assistance to local artisans. It can be tricky - I have to limit *my* tastes and think about the artisan's distinct style and market trends. For example these alien heads:

They're fantastic. You can order them from Swahili Imports based in Oregon. I don't think Leslie has any in stock right now but we'll be shipping some off to her in in a few weeks so you can pre-book in advance... That is if you really really really want to waste money on something that looks interesting but isn't *that* useful. They smell very nice (sandalwood) though.

The vases really are lovely. I may visit that site when I get a bit of money.

Partially turned and polished chunks of wood have a very old tradition in hippie art.

those vases are loverly.

the last guys' work I could see being really popular as dining table centerpieces, especially if he did some that are holiday or party-themed (sounds cheesier than it could be)... i can visualize a nativity scene, maybe some kind of circle of dancing people supporting a big bowl (for holding fruit and whatnot), blah blah... maybe that's already overdone, though.
