Kali sits on the same high horse as I do, obviously. sugarimp April 17 2009, 14:24:23 UTC
I took her to the vet today to make sure she didn't have any more dead babies... vet wasn't so sure, so Monday Kali is going to get spayed, and made sure there aren't any zombie kitties inside her.

What you did was most probably correct - ease it out with the contraction. Forcing it out would probably have caused Kali pain and may have injured her too.

I'm glad one survived, anyway. She'll probably be huge with all the food she's about to get!

Any photos of mother and kitten? :-)

It happens to dogs too, and most animals.

A series I watched here in the UK recently showed a bloke who looked after a pack of wolves at the animal park he worked for. The only female there (at that point) was pregnant, and when she gave birth, she had the same problem - three pups born, followed by one large one she couldn't get out. The vet had to tranquilise her and remove the stuck pup. Her keeper had a lot of trouble trying to get her to feed and care for the rest of her pups afterwards, but thankfully he managed to persuade her.
