i cannot comment enough on how much i love these fotos! how FUN! your hair...ahhh. the first pic of you and mike is absolutely the best picture. your black and white outfit is nift. what was the bottom half like?
Thanks for the kind words! You see my big hair in the 8th picture? I want to recreate that for next week. Or maybe I'll try a new style.
In the Val's Burger photo, I am wearing a black and white op-art style mini skirt, black tights, and white go-go boots. I think Mike is wearing black jeans.
I lOVE it when businesses keep their old signs up instead of modernizing them. This last weekend we were in...god! I don't even know what city we were in. The city where Stanford University is? Anyways, we were driving around and they had this super old school KFC that was all angular and it had these big windows in the front and one had an old Colonial Sanders statue inside it! It was sooo cool.
Unfortunately, Sam's Super Burger changed a little bit over the years. The polka dots used to be orange and purple. Plus, they removed the tall sign with an arrow. That explains why I want to snap all these photos and document all my favorite googie signage and architecture because you never know how long it will last.
I should definitely check out that KFC in Palo Alto (home of Stanford). It sounds like it's right up my alley. I don't think I have ever seen a Colonel Sanders statue so I better bring my camera. You know what's a rarity? A KFC with the spinning bucket sign!
That same day (in another city I don't remember-South San Fran-tons of cemetaries) I saw a REALLY old Arby's. It had to be the original design. I get really excited when I see popular fast-food restaraunts that havn't updated, it's so rare.
Wow! There were/are a few really old,but rather odd, abandoned diners with wacky signs here. One was a catfish place, with this bizarro giant fish wearing a crown.I need to go see if it's still there this weekend.
I bet there is more intact signage in your area. Everyone wants to modernize in California and be on the cutting edge. Pretty soon it will all disappear.
Yeah, the Seeds still play. Actually, it's just Sky Saxon and young musicians. They actually sound good. I have seen them a lot during the past few years.
Fun pics of you and your friends! :) You have a pretty fun summer planned too? My fav pic of you above is the one on January 1st where you are wearing the pink headband. I like the tunic dress. I don't know the name for it but it's cool!

These pictures are all great. I even love the '05 Mustang out in the parking lot.
