Not only is the homework piling up like nothing else, but I'm getting extremely discouraged with trying to sell my chainmail jewellery.
I haven't had a sale in almost 4 months now, not to mention we haven't had any repeat customers. Views are up from what they were, now that I've joined some teams, but they're nothing like we had when Poppy's polymer clay jewellery was still in the shop. Adjusting prices to "Etsy standards of quality" did nothing, and if anything, I'm worried it hurt my chances more than it helped.
I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth persevering, or if I'm better off abandoning the shop and just letting Poppy completely take over when she has some free time again.
This has been bugging me for months... I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong.
Do I need more products, more variety? Should I not be lumping all the similar listings together? Should I not be offering so many options? Just list each piece as-is? Not offering options seems like it'd hurt though. If I make all my bracelets the same size, people with larger or smaller wrists may not be able to wear them. Or maybe the earrings are a problem. Metal sensitivities are such a common problem, maybe I need to swap out the earring hooks I'm using.
I don't think my closures are an issue, I've seen far worse ones make more sales... I am going to switch to saw cut rings & colours when I run out of rings from my last order. I've probably spent close to $400 on materials now, and have only made about $80-100 back...
I've maybe made...10 sales now? Only two of those were to people I don't know. But even friends & family aren't asking for jewellery... I've given away 20 pieces, probably worth about $200 if I really sit down and think about it...And maybe one or two of them generated a sale.
We have a Facebook page, we have a Twitter now. I've got links in my signature in the two forums I frequent. I've joined jewellery teams, I've joined a local team.
Seriously, what the hell am I doing wrong?
tl;dr version:
Go to my
shop on Etsy, buy some jewellery, and make my day.
