6. Well, given the witch trials, I can understand this POV. But not all Muggles were ignorant and fearful, just as not all wizards were great and magnanimous.

7. They're just basic insults against Muggles: Muggles live in their own dung (which they technically did at this point in time, hygene and sewage not being very advanced) and scum being a classic insult.

9. Depends. Merlin was the one who started the tradition of helping Muggles, so it's a noble, honourable thing to do. But it really depends on whether the person wants to be helped and whether that person NEEDS the help.
