I am commenting a lot on this aren't I? Sorry for being a comment hog. But I just had a thought about why wizards might dislike the story of the Fountain of Fair Fortune.
One of the gifts that must be offered to gain entrance to the fountain is the gift of the fruits of labor which is the sweat of your brow. Does magical work ever cause sweat? Does this imply nonmagical labor? Is this a hint that the Fountain itself is not using Magic to aid you and that you're own labor is what will give you what you want. Perhaps this seems anti magic and pro muggle.
