Where have the archives gone?

Nov 07, 2009 10:20

What's up at www.sugarquill.net? All my bookmarks are broken and I basically can't see anything but the home page and the closed forums pages. Please, please don't say all those stories and art are lost! Oh, no!

I know there are stories whose only location I know about are on Sugar quill. This is hard.

I've breezed through some messages here. There was a yahoo group at one time but those are hard to read stories at because the stories are listed as "messages." At least that is the problem at SBRL group.
There were a few beautiful art entries that aren't posted elsewhere either.

Some of the writers have posted their work on LJ. Ferwithy has and Dogstar has now under the name jofic, I believe. I could find some of the others. But there is still a lot of work that isn't posted other places, or is under unknown names.

In the previous post about this, someone said they'd messaged Zsenya about it. Haven't heard anything more from that though. If the archives are gone for good, it's a huge loss.

I'd noticed the disappearances to, and, well, freaking out is a good phrase. I've also sent Zsenya an LJ message, so hopefully we can at least find out what's going on!
:(

PS: Hi! I'm Te Aroha, and I've been lurking around here like I used to at the quill. Pleased to meet y'all.

PPS: I know some of the SQ authors also posted on Phoenix SOng, perhaps some of the fics are recoverable from there?

Oh, this makes me so sad. The SQ was my first "home" on the internet: the first website I'd check when I logged on every single day. I hope these stories aren't lost. :(

Ditto :(

I've been poking around the internet trying to find the authors on my 'Fantastic Quillers' list (hard copy, thank goodness!)elsewhere, and I did find quite a few on Phoenix Song, Fiction Alley and FF.net , which softens the blow somewhat. However some stories, such as Jedi B and Arabella's (except for AtE), just don't seem to be anywhere else. What shall we do?! I've never had a, well, an entire library just *disappear* on me before. Most upsetting.

It was my first home on the net too.

I will be so sad if it's closed up.
